Testimonials

LightForce - Nathan H.

"Due to your speedy service I was able to take the new lenses (LightForce) into Canada with me this last weekend.  They definitely work great and helped me avoid a moose."

EDGE and AFE - Wade H.

"Previous to my modifications, I got 10.8 mpg on the last tank in my 2002 Ford F250 PSD. Then along came Grimm Performance!

As you will recall, I purchased the Edge EVO and the AFE Magnum Stage II. In addition to these upgrades, I added the Magnaflow 5" SS Exhaust. I got 21.47 mpg on my first tank with the EVO set on TOW!

I just wanted to say thanks for your help. You have a new, very satisfied customer."

Fuel Economy for Fleet Trucks E-mail
How to improve fuel economy for fleet diesel and gas pickup, light duty trucks, and medium duty trucks.  Upgrades that can save two to four miles per gallon while preserving vehicle safety.

With the price of diesel shooting up to well over three dollars and gasoline not far behind, fleet managers are looking for ways to reduce fuel consumption and cut costs.  We here at Grimm Performance have a few suggestions outside of the usual.  Try a diesel or gas performance chip!  I know what your thinking, how can a 100HP chip save fuel, and besides my guys will just tear up a truck with that much additional power!  Fortunately, Quadzilla, and Superchips have a good answer for you whether you have Ford Powerstrokes, Dodge Cummins, or Chevy Duramax trucks.
A year or so ago Quadzilla took requests from those of us who were looking for a product suitable for fleet applications.  It needed to have enough power to help tow heavy loads and to be able to improve fuel economy, but it needed to be safe enough to allow for the truck to be overworked like they all are.  Their answer was the Quadzilla XZT economy box.  Typically, this unit is pre-set at 65HP and 165Ft/lbs of torque with versions available for the Ford 7.3 and 6.0, the Dodge Common Rail and the Dodge 24 valve.  The 65 HP program is a tow and work safe setting.  As long as you are within factory specs for load, you won’t have issues with this module cooking off turbo chargers or twisting off transmissions.
This power setting usually results in fuel savings of between two and four MPG.  When you start doing the payoff calculations at $3.20 fuel, it only takes a few thousand miles to pay back!  The reason the Quadzilla XZT series works so well, is that the programming is set to make the changes primarily with timing instead of fuel volume.  This results in lower EGT’s and better fuel economy than most other companies on the market.  The exception to this rule is for the Duramax.  We have gotten excellent results with the Quadzilla Stealth 2 tuner for the LB7 engine, but not so good on the LLY or 04.5 and newer trucks.  The superchips tuner seems to work very well on the LLY.  With a tuner, it can be set at 60HP and the driver can’t make adjustments.  That way, the truck is still protected.
We have also found that the Quadzilla XZT chips work on the Ford Powerstroke F450 and F550 as well.  The Quadzilla Stealth tuner works on the 2500, 3500, and Kodiak 4500 with the LLY motor.  So, we can get the medium duty trucks as well.  The E-250 and 350 vans with Powerstroke Diesel Motors can also be upgraded.
Now, I know some of you are thinking, that’s all well and good for diesel trucks, what about my gas pickups?  Quadzilla has an excellent gas tuner that works on the V6 and V8 Engines that Chevy has released from 98 to 2005.  Just pick the tune and set the truck up for economy.  The results aren’t quite as spectacular, but we have seen a good 2MPG for most applications.
Whatever your need, give us a call and let us help you out.  Skeptical? Try one or two trucks and track the improvements.  Give us a call, we’ll make it worth your while.
